So I got two halfmoon bettas yesterday and I just love them! But one (female) is in my community 10 gallon tank, I was very cautious and watched her for about 2 hours to make sure there was no aggresion, but she was fine and swimming around and exploring but now she is just resting on my moss. Is that normal?
And my second one (guy) I have in a 5 gallon hex alone, and he is just resting to. Is this normal for the first day?
My bettas aren't going to die right? What can I do to insure that they live a happy long life? I eventually plan to breed them but that is way off.
Please help

How long have the tanks been up? What are your water parameters?
Its usually normal, but it could be something else. Just gotta check to make sure all is well

Both tanks are stable and established. Both seem to be doing better. I tend to get paranoid whenever I get new fish.

Not a problem. But do you have a test kit to get readings of ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, pH and such?

Your nitrite reading should be 0 while nitrates at 0.25ppm is still normal.

One thing you can check is temp. Alot of people with community or bachelor setups set it around 72-74 deg. Betta's although flourish around 76-78 deg. In cooler water they will tend to be sluggish and inactive and often do not eat very well, you prolly saw this behavior when you purchased them as they were more than likely in a small cup or whatever. Hope that helps other than temp. make sure you do reg. tests on your water chemistry even though they will adapt to most tap water conditions it may take time.
